"I DON'T CALL MYSELF A DREAMER, RATHER A DREAM HUNTER."

One passion, much success

The name behind this quote: Otto Mattivi. A visionary, who has dedicated his life and career to food and wine. In the 1980s, with the opening of the Hidalgo Restaurant in Postal, he produced a mecca for meat lovers: outstanding ingredients, a highly qualified team and a pleasurable atmosphere, making it one of the most renowned restaurants in South Tyrol. In 2014, to crown “the Hidalgo experience”, the elegant Hidalgo Suites were created. The next step; inspired by his travels to Japan, Otto opens the exclusive Wagyu Beef Tasting Restaurant, a small but exquisite restaurant where tasting becomes a truly unique adventure. Fine wines from the private cellar and warm hospitality round out the culinary evening.

With ARUA, another long-awaited dream is realized. Starting from summer 2019, in San Pietro above Merano, 6 private spa villas were developed: unique lodgings immersed in a fabulous natural landscape. Otto and his son Johannes planned every detail relying on the mastery of Italian designers. The result is a holiday complex with respect for privacy as its primary value. As a nature-lover Otto Mattivi, just as he had for Hidalgo Suites, designed a 2.5-hectare Alpine-Mediterranean garden park, which hosts what is probably the highest olive grove in South Tyrol. Here, fruit and vegetables are also grown, products that can be enjoyed at the Hidalgo Restaurant.

Gourmet, wine connoisseur, gastronomy professional, Otto Mattivi has made his passion his life and offers unforgettable experiences for lovers of fine cuisine.

Johannes Gruss, his son and right hand, is responsible for marketing and hospitality.
